The purpose of the IT Support Analyst is to lead Sauk County’s computer support services by providing guidance and assistance with computer security, software, and hardware, providing project/task coordination and oversight, and providing recommendations to the MIS Director for planning and implementing Information Technology projects.

 

Essential Duties

 

  • Act as team lead for the departments support functions.
  • Coordinate, train, monitor, and advise support staff.
  • Develop project plans and provide project management for authorized projects.
  • Oversee, develop, implement, and monitor system security practices.
  • Respond to identified security events.
  • Test disaster recovery plans.
  • Implement system changes and upgrades.
  • Coordinate staff coverage for system management and administration functions.
  • Document system changes.
  • Respond to employee inquiries concerning systems operation and diagnose system hardware, software, and operator problems.
  • Procure new and replacement systems hardware and software.
  • Manage vendor service contracts and license agreements.
  • Assist in developing and testing system backup and recovery plans.
  • Assist in developing annual technology budget for MIS.
  • Replace defective or inadequate hardware and software.
  • Answer help desk calls by logging calls and answering and resolving calls.
  • Create long-term strategies for help desk work and makes recommendations for policies, procedures, or budget for the help desk.
  • Handle problem recognition, research, isolation, and follow-up routine user problems, and referring to additional help when needed.
  • Confer with staff, computer users, and Management Information Systems (MIS) staff over new or modified software and hardware to implement.
  • Coordinate hardware, software, and procedural change.
  • Assist in policy and procedure development.
  • Server Administration.
  • Answer Helpdesk calls, log issues, and respond to user requests for assistance.  
  • Update databases.
  • And other duties as assigned.

Required Working Hours
Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am until 4:30 pm.  Please note these hours are subject to change and additional hours may be needed or required.  Compensation for additional hours beyond normal working hours are subject to applicable state and federal regulations.

 

Minimum Training and Education

Required:
Associate’s degree in Computer Science or another related field
3 years of experience installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining computers, hardware, and software
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or another related field
1 year supervisory experience

Any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
