6:8 is seeking Lead Teachers and Assistant Teachers for our Circles Youth Program
Enjoy working with kids? Want to make a difference in the lives of children and families? Come be a part of 6:8 Circles Sauk Prairie and support families in your community that are overcoming poverty. Our weekly meetings host classes and individualized support teams to empower individuals setting goals and making life changes. Children are taught and develop friendships with each other and the volunteers in a secure environment. It is our hope that we can make a positive difference in their lives by providing learning opportunities, routine, and needed friendship. Our youth program could not be made possible without a sufficient number of fun and nurturing volunteers! Come join us for two and a half hours, once a week, for free dinner and an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children!
Qualifications:
- If over 18 years old, must consent to and pass a background check
- Read, sign, and follow childcare rules, code of conduct, and confidentiality policies
- Compassionate, patient, a sense of humor and enjoys children!
Commitment:
- Up to 3 hours on Monday nights (set up/clean up) at 6:8 (821 Industry Rd, Sauk City)
- 1-2 hours for prep throughout the week additionally (for Lead Teachers)
- A minimum commitment of 1 calendar year (or school year), but this can be flexible depending on availability

Interests in one or more of the following areas are ideal but not required:
- Education, Social Services, Finance/Lifestyle, Nutrition, Fitness
Lead Teacher Responsibilities:
- Attend weekly Circles programming; and if unable to attend, designate a substitute for that week
- Create/Review/Prep age-appropriate lesson plans
- Lesson plans and ideas are provided, or you are encouraged to create your own. We currently have a volunteer who creates lesson plans for the 4-6 and 7-12 year old age groups, and you would be responsible for reviewing those lessons and activities ahead of time.
- Print/assemble materials needed for activities (can be done at 6:8)
- Facilitate lessons and activities
- Recruit volunteers with the help of 6:8 Staff/connections
- Delegate tasks to volunteers
- Ensure a safe, fun, positive environment for youth and volunteers
- Model healthy, respectful, and responsible behaviors
- Correct and praise youth
- Bring concerns to staff members
- Recruit and train the next Lead Teacher once your commitment is fulfilled (this could be a younger classmate who will take over Lead Teacher responsibilities the following school year)
Assistant Teachers Responsibilities:
- Attend weekly Circles programming; and if unable to attend, designate a substitute for that week
- Assist Lead Teacher with printing/assembling materials (can be done at 6:8)
- Recruit volunteers with the help of 6:8 Staff/connections
- Ensure a safe, fun, positive environment for youth and volunteers
- Provide one-on-one as well as group supervision and attention during weekly meetings; Engage with youth during activities
- Reading to/with youth
- Model healthy, respectful, and responsible behaviors
- Correct and praise youth
- Bring concerns to staff members
We are seeking 1 Lead Teacher and at least 1 Assistant Teacher for each of the following age groups: 0-3 years old, 4-6 years old, and 7-12 years old. We would like to fill roles by Dec. 2nd, 2024.
