Voices from Sauk Prairie:
Readings From and About the Sauk Prairie Area

Our program this evening focuses on historic and creative writings about the Sauk Prairie area and by authors from the region. We are featuring seven readings by seven guest readers, including:
• “The Story of Devils Lake” (traditional Ho-Chunk story)
• Excerpt from the Diary of Edmund and Henrietta Rendtorff (1840)
• “Vegetation of the Town Prairie du Sac” (Frederick Lueders, 1895)
• Excerpt from the Will of Jedediah S. Tripp (1915)
• “A Paradise Lost: Sauk Prairie Remembered” (Kathryn Klipstein-Gress, 2001, about the loss of her family farm due to the construction of the Badger Plant, 1942)
• “Old Man Fishing” (August Derleth, 1953)
• Excerpt from Jean Clausen’s book, "To Thank a River" Guest readers include Kristin WhiteEagle (invited), Mike Mossman and Lisa Hartman, Mike Putnam, Rob Nurre, Rauel LaBreche, Jody Kapp and Juliana Clausen.

Our program series is free and open to the public. Refreshments provided. Come early for conversation and snacks!
